Tournament Regulations & Conditions

1. The Open Division will be ACF and FIDE rated. The U1600 will be ACF rated. Players who are not Australian citizens or have a permanent residency visa must have a FIDE ID number to enter the Open tournament. This can be obtained from their national federation.
2. All players under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian on the premises at all times.
3. Entry in the Open section is restricted to players with an ACF standard rating of at least 1400 or a FIDE standard rating of at least 1600.
4. This 7-round individual chess tournament is open to all players.
5. The tournament is limited to 150 players.
6. The time control is 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move from move 1.
7. Prize fund of $8,900 guaranteed.
8. You need to register and pay by 8th June to be eligible for the early entry fee.
9. Entries on the day of the tournament will be included in the round 1 draw at the arbiter’s discretion. Absolutely no entries will be accepted after 11:30am.
10. Full-time students under 25 can enter at the junior rate. Student ID card must be produced on the day of the tournament otherwise the applicable adult entry fee will be charged.
11. For pensioner discount, Pensioner Concession Card or Commonwealth Seniors Health must be produced on the day of the tournament otherwise the applicable adult entry fee will be charged.
12. Exemption from entry fees: FIDE titleholders – GM, IM, WGM, WIM. Entry must be received by the early entry cut off date of 8th June or full entry fees must be paid.
13. Players are eligible for only 1 prize. Rating prizes are based on ACF ratings. Unrated players are not eligible for rating-restricted prizes, including 1st-5th prizes in the Minor.
14. Forfeit times: Any player who arrives at the chessboard more than 30 minutes after the start of the session shall lose the game unless the arbiter decides otherwise.
15. All NSW resident players must be full members of (or join) the NSWCA or NSWJCL.
16. By entering the event players acknowledge that the decision of the organiser (NSWCA) is final.
17. Players may request up to two half point byes prior to the start of the round before the bye is needed. Half point byes are not available in the last two rounds.
18. All prizes not redeemed within 3 months will be treated as donations to the next Olympiad.
